Well it’s September already – and believe it or not, the home stretch for 2009 season!

If you are looking to book a group of 8 or more, we have only a few spots left!

Availability for groups this size changes *DAILY*.  Call soon if you have a group this large so we can discuss your options!

Likewise for *2010* we’ve filled a week already for two seasons out!  Large groups know they have to book early to secure the week they want – this coupled with amazing incentives for early booking means that we were quite busy in August with those that had the ability to plan that far out!

By popular demand we’ve added a 6 Day/7 Night cat Ski package.  We’ve listened to you over the past 14 years, and last year we worked extensively to expand our Cat skiing terrain to make this trip viable!

Listening to what you as our clients need to in flexibility is what we always strive for.  We recently added two new punch cards to our offerings to save those of you with more time than money EVEN MORE MONEY!

Trust us!  All Heli-Ski Firms are not created equal!  Don’t book a heli-trip – any where – without speaking with us first! Want to do a little research before you contact us?  Our FAQ page is full of the basics you need to help formulate questions and choose to the trip that works best for you!

Do the research, please!  Last season we found many who came to Valdez that asked "Why didn't I book with you?"!  We know the reason!  You didn't speak or email us before you chose your operator.  Heli-Skiing in Alaska is a challenging and expensive endeavor, we strive to make every aspect of your visit here as enjoyable as possible.  Those that have been our guests in the past know that Valdez Heli-Camps is the best value in Alaskan Heli-Skiing!

It’s August already!  Usually we don’t see “termination dust” (the snows that marks the end of summer in Alaska) until later this month, but we already had real life SNOW FALLS at elevations as low as 3000 feet!!!

If our summer is ANY indication, this season is shaping up to be early and big with a lot of fresh powder that we all love!

We often discuss our pre-pay discounts for each month in these summer newsletters, but this is the last of the big ones – 5% for paying for your trip in full by the end of August….

…AND most importantly…

…we will be raising our prices 7-10% due to rising fuel costs at the end of the month.  VHC doesn’t nickel and dime our clients by  placing a fuel “surcharge” on our trips, and no,,, we are not going to start charging you for your water bottle and heli-pack in the ship like the crazy airlines are now doing. However, the cost of fuel has affected EVERYTHING that we do, and since Valdez is literally at the end of the road, ALL of our supplies are affected by the price of fuel.  Thus prices overall are going up…

If you have already paid for your trip with at least a 50% deposit – you are all set, and this increase DOES NOT affect you.

…but, if you have friends that you believe will join you that have not yet booked,, make sure they know that their trip price is going to go up if they do not book soon!

A 50% deposit in August will secure the current prices.  Paying in full by the 31st  provides a 5% discount.  An additional 5% is available for groups of four!

And those of you interested in 2010…you may have your 2010 trip at the current rates if you put down a 50% deposit by the end of August (if you then pay for the 2010 trip in full before March 31, 2009, you can take 10% off – a tremendous savings!).

Hi everyone!

There’s plenty to talk about!

We just wrapped up our season, and although we’re enjoying summer-like temperatures here, we’re already getting ready for 2009!

First, the Sound-To-Summit adventure was awesome!  We accomplished our goal of skiing from all of the 6 tallest peaks in the Chugach, watched glaciers calving over dinner each night, sat in the hot tub, and even enjoyed some glacial ice cocktails! Congratulations to Victor from Switzerland and his friends for accomplishing this Great Adventure with us for the first time!  The most adventurous of you won’t want to miss this very special trip next season. Second, you all know that we run the longest season in Alaska, starting the first week in February and finishing up in May.  We’d like to convince more of you to come early in our season when the snow is great. Hi Everyone,
I am currently planning the last details for Sound to Summit 2008!!!  The late April run is booked and we have a few seats left for the early May run.  The cost is 9K (OK, it’s really $8999 for the 2008 sessions) for 4-days of intense attempts at Chugach first descents and boat tripping fun in Prince William Sound!!!

Greetings to all!
I wanted to send this Season’s Kick Off message off to all of you while I had a short break between our first and second week of operation tonight!  The snow is really coming down here this evening giving the Chugach a nice “freshen-up” of new powder for the coming week! 
Clear but unseasonably cold conditions last week allowed us to fly all but one day in the helicopter. (and on that one day we didn’t fly, we were out trying out the first of our two new Pisten Bully snowcats with the 5.1 surround-sound and Flat Screen HD’s. Pretty Cool storm day upgrade and all part of our all-inclusive heliski service to you here at VHC!!! ) With this new snow coming down and warming temps we are looking for great conditions for this week and on through February again this season!

So, for those of you planning your trip to visit us in Valdez this season; get those plans finalized and be prepared for the trip of a lifetime!

For those you not yet committed to a trip to come see us, it’s not too late to plan to come see us!  There’s still plenty of space for those of you that want to come in groups of up to four!  If you’re dates are somewhat flexible, we have room for groups of larger than four, especially if you can choose a 4 Day/4 Night All-Inclusive Trip.  And of course we can find spaces for those of you in smaller groups as well, especially those of you that want to come as singles because you can’t rally the troops to come with you on this one!

Can’t commit to a 2008 trip?  Well it’s the best time to plan your trip for the 2009 season as well!  If you can plan and book your trip by the end of February 2008, you can have your 2009 trip at the 2008 rates.  Since the 2009 rates are going up an average of 7.5% over those of 2008 (mostly due to the effects of rising fuel costs), you can save big!

Additionally, if you book now in February for 2009 pay for the trip balance in full by March 31, 2008 you can save 10% of the 2008 rates. This means your savings could be more than $1500.00 depending upon which of our all inclusive packages you choose!

Hello everyone!

This summer and fall while Todd the Sales Guy has been helping many of you make your plans for the heliski season, I have been working on new and exciting things for you at VHC.  The snow is here and we have never been more excited than this season for you all to join us!

First, I’m happy to say that I’ve extended Sound-to-Summit, our premier adventure trip, from two to three sessions in early May, for the first time.  One slot is already completely booked and there is limited seating available in the other two.  Call me soon if you would like a spot on this exclusive trip! My direct extension is #214.

Next, In June I was pleased to have contracted Propeller Media Works, from my home state of Vermont to kick our Web site up to the next level.  I made a trip back east to meet with them (and yes, I checked on my folks and the family farm as well), and I’m confident that I’ve found the right folks to give www.valdezhelicamps.com a fresh new look and the functionality we have been looking forward to!  Many of you participated in our research this year in developing some of the features this new site will provide our clients and causal viewers alike. Look for the announcement of the world premier of our updated site here in the coming weeks!

While I was on my trip to the “Lower 48”, I also stopped by Grand Junction, Colorado, and visited the folks at Kassbohrer All-Terrain Vehicles.  The result?  My wallet is a little lighter as I arranged purchase of two state-of-the-art Pisten Bully PB 200/Edge Snow Cats to add to our fleet (bringing the total to five Machines onsite this season to ensure your skiing or snowboarding in Alaska in nearly every weather condition. Only VHC in the heliski industry continues to make that commitment to, and investment in, our guests’ experience and we are happy to do so!). 

These new cats will leave Colorado as soon as they are painted in the company colors and will be on a November 15th Barge bound to meet you and stand ready in the Chugach Mountains and Valdez this season. 

Finally, we’ve recommitted to the Ski and Snowboard show circuit this season, and joined forces with Dan Egan and Skiclinics.com to share booth space. I just finished the Seattle show yesterday with our friends Mike Calderon (world’s greatest Mexican-American Heliskier) and Scott Frye helping keep up the antics we are famous for on the circuit.

I’ve also been out at base camp, making some improvements there, including a new customer service building to enable better and more efficient service during your ski package!  This also provides a spot for our new position of Operations Support Coordinator to hang out.  Many of you that have already arranged trips with us will be hearing from the Ops Coordinator soon as we confirm your travel plans for the upcoming season in December and January!

All-in-all, and thanks to your kind recommendations to friends and acquaintances, 2008 is shaping up to be our best and busiest season ever!
If you’ve already booked a trip with us, I look forward to being your host!  If you haven’t been here yet, act now to be sure you can get the dates you want, particularly if you are organizing a large group or are interested in a Private Helicopter Charter.  The weak US Dollar has caused us to be very busy with early reservations this year.

While our regularly scheduled Heliski season is now through, there’s still some fresh powder in Thompson Pass! Many of you have been keeping me (the infamous VHC Sales Guy) quite busy! And many of the prime slots for 2008 are already filling in! Though this is great for us we want to let you all know we already anticipate a very busy 2008 season and you need to start thinking about your dates.

So, if you have a larger group planning for mid-season, spring break, or president’s weekend, it is never to early to let us know how many and when. 

Inquiries and bookings are definitely much higher than this time last year – especially for 2008 Private Heliskiing Charters and the Sound-to-Summit (Matt’s “Boat Trip” heli traverse of the Chugach).  Both of these programs have limited seating, so if those trips are your inclination, contact me soon for more details!

Our larger returning groups (eight and more) are finalizing schedules now as well to take advantage of the pre-pay discounts.  So remember that we will have a limited number of semi-private seats as well in prime time 2008. If you are able to book and pay by the end of May the pre-reservation rate is 8% off! Let me know if you need more information on this and other group incentives for 08’ or 09’?  

The bigger your group, the better it is to lock in those heli-seats early, so you and your team can be sure we have room on the dates you can break your leash and mush on up to Alaska next season to visit us! If you are among those thinking about coming to see us in 2008 and haven’t yet called the gang to organize, the sooner you start the process, the better! Steady planning good – procrastinating bad…

I wanted to send you all a quick note on the latest happenings from Valdez.

We just received up to 2 ½ feet / 80cms of new snow in our highest elevations and again are enjoying great skiing in Valdez!  After a fabulous early February, with a record 21 consecutive days of flying in superb conditions, we reached a new record here in early March, a record stretch of unseasonably cold and windy conditions from an arctic blast of high pressure that held us in its grip.  With the weather back on track and new snow on our favorite peaks, here is a call to action for those of you who have been keeping your schedule open to join us still this season!  We still have some seats available in April for you in our famous 3, 4, or 6 day packages that guarantee you a seat in both our helicopters and snowcats each day of your stay


“The X Team Clinic and Dan Egan are coming April 8”! Hi Every One!

Well the first Month of our season has turned out to be one of the busiest season yet!  And while March is just beginning, It’s April we want to talk about!

Why You Ask?  Because March is practically Booked Solid!  If March is the only time you can come Heli-Skiing, We have a few spots for Next week (March 11-17), and 25 March – 1 April.

If you’re a Cat Skier, I do have limited room for 18-25 March!  But you have to choose now!

Hello friends of VHC!

The three words that best describe this season are, Snow Snow Snow!

We definitely got it in Valdez!  Who would believe that to clear our buildings’ roofs, we would actually need to shovel the snow “up” by January? 

With our February 4th opening date less than a week away, the conditions in Valdez are as good as it gets!

Mark, a new guest with us this season coming from the East Coast, sent us this email as he continued to do research for his trip:

Mark found the right info and we’re definitely seeing the snows pile-up here this season!  Folks are going to be talking about the 2007 heli-season for years to come!

Those of you that have booked already, you’ll be very pleased that you did.  Just today we had to turn away two separate groups because we were too full to take them!

Those of you yet to book – take heed:  We have just a few places left for our most popular dates.  If you’re one coming by yourself, we have some options – but we have very few places for groups of four or more.  Contact us to check availability for the time you are able to come as soon as possible.  You’ll want to be like Mark, and the rest of our guests booked for the season – and say that you were here during the best snow of the decade!

We want to let you know that we do offer some deep discounts for booking early for 2008.  If you can plan and book your trip by the end of February 2007, you can have your 2008 trip at the 2007 rates.  Since rates generally go up 4-10 % each season, you can save BIG. Additionally, if you pay the trip in full by March 31, 2007 you can save 10% of the 2007 rates. This means your savings could be more than $1500.00 per person depending upon which of our all inclusive packages you choose and confirm this February.

August News From Valdez Heli-Camps

Yes we’re locked in deep summer here in Alaska, but the start of our season is just a short 6 months away!

We want to remind you all that you have until August 31st to get 5%  off our current published rates.

I say “current” because, due to rising fuel costs, we are compelled to raise our rates for the 2007 by between 5 and 10%.  The new rates will publish and take effect September 1st.

If you are planning a trip the 2007 season, now is the best time to book.

You can lock in the current rates with a 50% deposit, with the balance due 90 days before your trip start date.  And of course you can take an additional 5% off of these rates with our August pre-pay discount of 5% if you pay in full by August 31st!

Happy Spring!

While we still get fresh snow in the highest of elevations this time of year, the temperature on Mother’s day (at sea level) was 63 degrees Fahrenheit.

Yet we have just about 15 short days left until our 8% discount for securing your spot for the 2007 season and paying in full by May 31, 2006.  We do still have spots available for up to four skiers through out our season, but the last two weeks in February and first week in March are quickly filling.  Remember, if you book a trip in February, you get UNLIMITED VERTICLE, and that could save you hundreds of dollars!

Hey all you Big Mountain Riders!
