Heliskiing Alaska with Valdez Heli-Camps

Now that we’ve had the week to digest the Thanksgiving holiday, we’re ready for skiing in just ten days!

Here is what is happening this week @ VHC:

Board night begins tonight (December 1st) at Humpy’s Great Alaskan Ale House in Anchorage

12 years strong and welcoming GCI, Grant Aviation, Crown Royal and Deschutes Brewing to the family. It is hard to believe but for 12 years now VHC has partnered with our friends at Humpy’s Great Alaskan Ale House to bring the Big Mountains of Alaska to our favorite local patrons. It all started from dreams, a lot of hard work, a few beers and theme.  Board Night now runs 14 weeks each winter season on Wednesday nights at Humpy’s on 6th Ave offering locals unsurpassed opportunities to sample the best combination of beer, food and hospitality in Anchorage all while watching great ski and snowboard footage, listening to live music and winning great adventures and gear each year!

VHC opens December 10th (for snowcats)
VHC opening day is December 10th for Cat Skiing. That's right- while others are still dreaming of the skiing in Valdez for the upcoming season, Valdez Heli-Camps is hard at work putting in first tracks in the Chugach again this season earlier than ever! With almost 200” in the pass already, the terrain is shaping up nicely!  VHC will be offering Alaska locals and military personnel a special $299 daily rate throughout December and January. Anyone is welcome to join us for a special package rate from Anchorage including lodging and airfare for just $599! Drop us a line to learn more and book your Valdez Cat Skiing weekend now!

Costco Booking Tips “the inside line” when to come and how to buy!
I’m sure many of you are already taking the opportunity to lock up the most amazing deal in the history for heli skiing Alaska – the Costco Alaska Heli Skiing Experience (3 nights 25K) and Alaska Heliskiing Adventure (5 nights 50K)
Here is the inside line on how best to take advantage of these unbelievable rates:

Include a weekend in your travel. The majority of Valdez Heli-Camps premium trips change over on Saturday and Sunday. This creates excellent opportunities for punch carders as our capacity can be substantially underutilized on weekend days.

Buy early and buy big. Though many choose the great deal with the 25K punch card package, the 5 night 50,000 foot package offers those with a little more time to substantially increase their priority on the heli! See the Priority of space available helicopter seats at this link. The larger punch cards purchased and registered with VHC early have the highest priority of these available packages! Remember Costco inventory is limited! So when they are gone they are gone for the season!  Don’t miss out!

Come early or Come late. Contact us to help you select dates. Let us help you choose the optimum times during the season to plan your travel.
Most importantly remember, only Valdez Heli-Camps provides its all-inclusive guests guaranteed seats in both a helicopter and a snowcat each day of their stay.  This means when the conditions are best, extra capacity to ride nearly always exists between the helicopters and the snowcats on a given day. You may even consider upgrading if you like with the special upgrade bonuses of $250 and $500 offered here to join these premier Valdez Heli-Camps trips. Here is what this means to the Costco Traveler: These all-inclusive guests may only be occupying one seat on a given day in the helicopters or the snowcats leaving the alternate seat to you! Therefore with the super deals at Costco VHC nearly always has a way to ski or snowboard with you on the best weather days at a fraction of the price of more traditional options anywhere. Do you feel you need more info on this to make all these elements work to your advantage? We are happy to help!

The new VHC Hangout finally has a name!
VHC announces the birth of the Steep & Deep Bar and Wheelhouse Grill
For those of you who visited us in March or April last season you may have had the chance to catch a glimpse of our new bar and restaurant.  Early last season, only 3 weeks prior to opening the 2010 heliski season we were asked by the local hotelier to breath new life into his facility with Valdez Heli-Camps’ spirit and hospitality, formally only available to our private guests. With the best view in world and right on the harbor in the heart of Valdez attached to our lodging facility, we couldn’t pass it up. Starting a new restaurant from scratch at the beginning of heliski season was not my first choice.  Well, heliski ran right into summer and summer into fall with very few days that the premium 150 seat location was busy with a great mix of travelers and locals alike showing their support.  November and December has now left us time to plan and execute the remodels we have so waited for.  We can’t wait to show you our new digs this season.  “At, VHC, anything worth doing is worth over doing”  Mick Jagger
A Steep & Deep Bar and Wheelhouse Grill website is in the works...

Don’t forget to follow along with us this season on Facebook and Twitter too.

Hope to see you this season!
