What temperatures can I expect? (How cold does it get?)

Valdez Alaska average temperatures.

Many Heli Skiers and Snowboarders assume that the temperatures here during the heli ski season in Alaska are always very cold! But for a number reasons including our coastal proximity, the Valdez climate is relatively mild in temperature. Average daily temperature is about 20 degrees (-7 C). This can flex a bit to as warm as 40 (4 C) to as cold as 0 degrees (18 C).

Plan to dress as you would for any extended ski day in the back country and bring the appropriate clothing layers to prepare for both sides of the temp range and you should be just fine heli skiing or cat skiing with us in the Chugach Mountains surrounding Valdez.
